Personal Learning Devices at St Patrick's College
2014 iPad Program

St Patrick's College has a strong tradition of supporting learning with modern Information Communication Learning Technologies (ICLTs) in order to prepare students for 21st century living and learning. Mobile technologies have continued to evolve. Many schools and universities across the world are exploring educational applications of mobile technologies, especially Apple iPad technologies.

Our research has indicated that classroom environments supporting a student-centred model of mobile technologies that are managed and customised by the students themselves will best meet our students needs. This focus moves away from a one-size-fits-all approach with one device allocated to one student. Instead, students and staff are encouraged to explore a range of applications and devices that best suit the individual learning needs of our students.

In 2016 families of students in Years 7, 8 and 9 are asked to provide an Apple iPad as standard school equipment. Students in Years 10, 11 and 12 will continue to work with their Lenovo netbooks issued when they were in Year 9. In addition, senior students (Yrs 10 to 12) may choose to bring their own device.

This website has been developed to provide our families with information about our iPad program. In addition, information will be available at our parent information nights and our orientation days for new students.
